You're not doing anything wrong.

The number of bugs that come in is overwhelming with respect to the
number of volunteers we have.  (Currently there are 3454 in the 'kern'
category alone; 1-2 new ones arrive per day.  For 'Base system' in
total there are 6787.)

So it really depends on who sees the bug report as it comes in, and
whether they have enough time to work on it.

This is probably not the response you wanted to hear, but it's accurate.
