I take no credit, I asked my guru friend if he'd ever heard of it,
and he said "It's just a 32 bit integer that resolves to the IP
address when converted to binary. After all, an IP is just a number.
The "dotted quad" thing is just for human consumption.

Apparently, Netscape, for one, allows this.

Take the number and convert it to hex, then take each 2 hex digits and
convert to decimal.
