Okay, first, a complete FreeBSD 4.4 with XFree-4.1 from scratch and
then mplayer with your options works fine for me.
But it seems to me you didn't define CPUTYPE in your make.conf. In the
past, mplayer was always a bit critical in regard of the used cpu
instruction set.
You could set CPUTYPE=3Di686 (of course only if you have p2/p3/p4/athlon)
and build all related ports,(kernel,world) again.

But this is just a guess, I've never seen this error on my box
before...
