Mixed follow-up to a couple of older messages: Good news: a preliminary alpha version of the ltmdm port is now working on my Tecra 8000. This is due to nothing on my part other than testing; Watanabe-san adjusted the code to work. The biggest catch was that the Winmodem is on the ISA bus in the Tecra 8000. Maybe the PC Card controller on the Tecra 8000 is also on the ISA bus and can't share interrupts?
