Thanks for the link Warren, I tried what it suggested ('make deinstall;
make reinstall' the XFree-4-libraries) but to no avail.  I did get it to
stop cycling thru the resolutions, but that was because I removed all of
the other resolution options. :)

One side note, if num-lock is turned on, the num keys work but that's
it... So it looks like some nasty keyboard mapping issue...
