Ah, I don't do make a patch yet, but "I'm the one who brought this
problem up", so I try this out _today_ :-)

***

A patch attached below is for src/release/i386/drivers.conf, which
enables to make ed, fe, lnc, sl, sn, tun, txp, vx, asr, mly, aac, amr,
mlx, and twe drivers out from the installation kernel to modules. As
a result, we get 88 kbytes of space in kern.flp but lost 196 kbytes in
mfsroot.flp.  Here is a detail.

Before patch:
	kern.flp	 59 kbytes left
	mfsroot.flp	311 kbytes left

After patch:
	kern.flp	139 kbytes left
	mfsroot.flp	115 kbytes left

Both floppy images are made with "cd /usr/src/release; make NODOC=YES
boot.flp."

If you wanna test with this KLDed floppies, try these:

<URL:http://home.jp.FreeBSD.org/~matusita/more-kld-floppies/mfsroot.flp>;
<URL:http://home.jp.FreeBSD.org/~matusita/more-kld-floppies/boot.flp>;

Build logfiles are also available if you want:

<URL:http://home.jp.FreeBSD.org/~matusita/more-kld-floppies/before.log>;
<URL:http://home.jp.FreeBSD.org/~matusita/more-kld-floppies/after.log>;

P.S.: I've checked out the source code at Oct/05/2001.
