previously i had sent a message about installing the XIG server and xterm not working, well I reinstalled X from the CD and all seems to be working again along with the XIG accellerator. for some reason .xinitrc MUST be in your home directory and .steprc also must be there or X will exit as soon as it tries to run the window manager. this is unlike XF86_SVGA server.
