I'm not sure, but does it give you a chance to take out unnecessary devices? 
  FreeBSD might be reacting to conflicts.  Also, try it without the RAID 
controller and just use the motherboard IDE if that doesn't work.  If 
neither of those work, then I have absolutely no idea.
