   brandelf -t Linux blast

Yup. There's a FreeBSD native version available. It's in ports:
biology/ncbi-toolkit, or if you're allergic to compilers, packages are
available from the usual places like
ftp://ftp.${tld}.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/ports/i386/packages-4-stable/biology/ncbi-toolkit-2001.12.20.tgz
for most, but not all, values of ${tld}.
