I strongly disagree with you.  Only because someone stepped forward to
give make(1) some care and feeding were some bugs fixed, and some good
functionality added from our cousins.  I'd like to see this continue.

Feh.  How many other _major_ overreaching commits have there been w/o a
`make buildworld'??  Tons.  So making an issue of this behavior in
general, is a Good Thing [to me].  However, you seem to be using this
instance as justification for yanking the maintainer bit w/o any
discussion.
