While changing it, why not picking it up from the environmental varialbe WHOIS_SERVER, defaulting to the Internic? OTOH, i'm in the RIPE realm, but very often use whois to spot at spammers and such, and since the US is still far off in as a spam-provider compared to Europe, most of the time i indeed want to lookup Internic, not RIPE.
