The /usr/local/etc/grub.d/10_kfreebsd file is generated using a shell script that expects \t characters to be converted to TAB characters.  That isn't happening with the FreeBSD /bin/sh .

Install sysutils/grob2, look at /usr/local/etc/grub.d/10_kfreebsd for lines that begin with 't'.  Most of these leading 't' characters are supposed to be TABs.
