I once took a look at top when I copied a file on a MO disk attached
to such a card.  The CPU time used in interrupts was high and that was
with a device which took less than 1 MByte of data per second.  :-(

That's what at least I will do in the end.  As a solution to attach my
CD-ROM and MO drive (used mostly for backups) it is good enough at
present.
