It seems to be when /etc/rc.d/mixer attempts to restore mixer settings on boot. I took the cards out, but I remember that most if not all of the mixer settings resulted in a "deviced not configured" error. I just discovered the hw.snd.verbose sysctl. Do you think this would help? I'll retry the cards again later and try to get more info. I should mention that I'm using 8.0 amd64. Could this maybe be an amd64 issue? Regards, xw
