do you have the necessary devices /dev/dsp{0,1}
- try something like:
	cat kernel >/dev/dsp0
and
	cat kernel >/dev/dsp1

- use 'mixer' to change the volume levels to 100%
- try to free up some IRQs man! :)

IRQ10:
pci0: <UHCI USB controller> at 29.2 irq 10
ahc0: <Adaptec 2930CU SCSI adapter> port 0xd800-0xd8ff mem
0xfeaff000-0xfeafffff irq 10 at device 5.0 on pci2

IRQ11:
pci1: <Matrox MGA G400 AGP graphics accelerator> at 0.0 irq 11
pci0: <UHCI USB controller> at 29.0 irq 11
pcm0: <Creative CT5880-C> port 0xdc00-0xdc3f irq 11 at device 1.0 on pci2

IRQ3:
pci0: <unknown card> (vendor=0x8086, dev=0x24c3) at 31.3 irq 3
pcm1: <Intel 82801DB (ICH4)> port 0xe080-0xe0bf,0xe400-0xe4ff mem
0xfebff400-0xfebff4ff,0xfebff800-0xfebff9ff irq 3 at device 31.5 on pci0

well, well. try disabling all USB ports and the serial-ports (COM).
disabling the onboard sound in the bios _should_ give you another IRQ back.

hth.
