After a few weeks/months of being a news spool, it will be fragmented,
yes. That's unavoidable :-( And the ``arrangement'' that I was using
was a single partition filling the whole disk for the spool
... splitting it would just make it an administrative nightmare. So
the ``arrangement'' is dictated by the UFS/FFS kernel code...
