Not sure if 2.2.2 has it, but check for /etc/newsyslog.conf and man newsyslog.

To seperate qpopper logging from mail.log:

/etc/syslog.conf
local0.notice,local0.debug          /var/log/pop.log

-- or --

you could start it with the -s -t /var/log/pop.log
