The drive geometry seems to be the problem. HP Drive: bytes/sector: 512 sectors/track: 2 tracks/cylinder: 91 sectors/cylinder: 182 cylinders: 45771 sectors/unit: 8330502 Seagate Drive: bytes/sector: 512 sectors/track: 32 tracks/cylinder: 64 sectors/cylinder: 2048 cylinders: 499 sectors/unit: 1023968 I treid for days to get it working on the HP drive...no luck. The HP works fine, as long as you don't try to put your root/boot filesystems on it.
