Hi,

regarding POP3, I recommend fetchmail, it's very configurable and works
great.


regarding sendmail configuration:
http://www.sendmail.org/~ca/email/offline_mailing.html has a pretty good
article on sendmail configuration for dialup users. I've been using this
for a while, and have had no problems.
