Subject: telnet key mappings?

I've got some comm equipment that expects key sequences from an ANSI
terminal. Unfortunately, the default keycodes emitted by telnet aren't
quite compatible.

Is there an easy way to change the escape sequences that are generated
by the arrow keys? Is this an 'X' thing or is it specific to telnet?
Does this change when I'm in 'cu' for example?

Thanks!

Joe
