Searching the Free BSB list I found the opportunity to send to the group =
my question.
Unfortunately I am having the problem with my 40Gb Maxtor, and mine was =
mounted as slave.

Hi there,=20

I'd like to mount an ext2fs on my FreeBSD system. I recompiled my kernel =

with option EXT2FS and everything seems fine. When i try to mount with=20
`mount -t ext2fs /ad1s2 /opt` i get the following message in=20
/var/log/messages:=20

...: wrong magic number 0=20
(expected 0xef53)=20

This seems strange to me, so i tried to run e2fsck to fix this problem. =
The=20
following was prompted:=20
-------------------------------------------------------------------------=
---=20
----------------------=20
Couldn't find ext2 superblock, trying backup blocks...=20
e2fsck: Bad magic number in super-block while trying to open=20

The superblock could not be read or does not describe a correct ext2=20
filesystem. If the device is valid and it really contains an ext2=20
filesystem (and not swap or ufs or something else), then the superblock=20
is corrupt, and you might try running e2fsck with an alternate =
superblock:=20
    e2fsck -b 8193 <device>=20
-------------------------------------------------------------------------=
---=20
------------------------=20

So i ran `e2fsck -b 8193 /<device>`, but i was getting the same message. =

I've read every man/doc that has something to do with ext2fs etc. _and_ =
I=20
searched the whole internet for people having this very same problem, =
but=20
there where pratically none. Can please some help me out .=20

Mail me at andre@institutotreinar.com.br.=20

Thanks in advance.=20

I have very much important data inside it, and some are not backuped.( =
unfortunately I did not make bkup last month.

Tks
