I don't know about you guys, but I have a couple of scripts in ~/bin:
buildworld, installworld, buildrelease, etc. that add in my own customized
timing settings.  I'm sure that other people here are capable of writing your
own custom scripts if you really want some kind of fancy timing stuff. :) 
Also, if you really want a local hack in the Makefile, CVS can merge in the
updates. :)
