There is a project for that device, but they did not even release beta source code up to now: https://gna.org/projects/canoscan5000F When I plugged in my Canon LIDE20 scanner, 1. I decided to make the FreeBSD uscanner driver to like LIDE20 scanners I used usbdevs -v to find out the vendor and product code in /sys/dev/usb/usbdevs there is a list of devices in /sys/dev/usb/uscanner.c there is a list of scanners (I updated both lists) 2. I decided to use sane from ports /usr/ports/graphics/*sane* 3. I decided to use the plustek driver after consulting the sane driver search engine: generic search form: http://www.sane-project.org/cgi-bin/driver.pl in your case: http://www.sane-project.org/unsupported/canon-5000f.html Then you can use sane-find-scanner to see, if sane finds your scanner. And you can try xsane to see, if it can scan... -Arne __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail - now with 250MB free storage. Learn more. http://info.mail.yahoo.com/mail_250
