 Hmmm... As far as I know, if you mean 1542CP, not 5142CP (never heard
of that one) - FreeBSD should work just fine for you.  Have you tried it?
You should have no problems.  I used (and am still using on some machines)
some, now ancient, 1542Bs with no problem.
