You want to check out samba.  It provides SMB/NetBIOS support for FreeBSD,
allow the machine to appear like a windows machine on the network.  Very
nice stuff.  

Samba should be in the ports, or check out www.samba.org.

I use it at home for almost the exact same purpose you mention.
