I'm not too familar with the setiathome client (well I know what it's for,
but I just never ran/used it).  Is that an X11 application?  If it is, by
any chance are you running XFree86 4?  Just a shot in the dark, because it
seems like the only time I get it is when I'm in X and I do use XFree86
4.0.2 (probably should upgrade).
