  Hi,

I went to ftp.freebsd.org/pub/distfiles directory. I saw a lot of files
there but there is no README file to explain what those files for. Can
you tell me what those files for? Also a lot of files end with .tar.gz.
Can I use pkg_add command to extract them after I downloaded them (I know
that I can use pkg_add command to extract .tgz file format)? On my
  system, I don't have /usr/ports/distfiles (I did average user
installation through floppy disks). I don't know whether
/usr/ports/distfiles is a file or directory. If it is a directory, what
are the files under that directory or if it is a file, can you send it to
me through internet mail or tell me where I can download it on Internet?
  Thanks in advance.
