Alan,

Tried both of those settings, no change.

There is no PC-Card (PCMCIA) controller on this system, I wasn't sure 
by your question if you meant the system you had the trouble with had 
or did not have one.

Tried turning the parallel port back on also, no change.

It may well turn out the MB is flaky.  I had this in a server working 
24x7 for a long time with no prob.. one day I brought it down for a 
software update, then it wouldn't boot up, no video.  I couldn't 
believe it was dead just like that, saved it.  Went to try it today, 
using some other parts.. poof - booted up fine.  Thought, see.. it 
was just some fluke.  Now I see that every 6-10 boots it boots 
without video or something.  Maybe I'll just trash it.
