It is no different between any recent system releases. You shouldn't see
any difference between 11.1 and 11.2 in this matter.

If you are willing to buildworld, I would suggest looking at
https://reviews.freebsd.org/D7538
For me, I see much better memory use and less swapping, improvements
from this should prevent wired amounts being an issue.
