I am trying to install FreeBSD on the 2nd HD (Western Digital) 850 mb =
drive in my system. When configuring I have set the whole drive to (A) =
use all drive for for FreeBsd and tell it to install from a DOS =
partition. I currently have Win95 on the 'C' drive and the installation =
sets that I am trying to install in a directory on that drive (the C =
drive is 325 mb, also western digital). FreeBsd says that it can't find =
the necessary packages but also then goes on to tell me that the =
installation was a success! But after anwering all the yes/no questions =
it takes me right back to the main installation screen?! I didn't tell =
you that this is "3.0_current" =20

I had a successful install of version 2.28 but decided to try RedHat at =
which time I wiped the drive and started over. I didn't like Redhat at =
all (as a matter of fact couldn't get it to install at all - and this =
was from a CD! - the FreeBsd install program IMHO is much easier to use =
and allows using DOS formatted partitions, which RedHat marks as 100% =
used and WILL not allow you to install over)

I'm at a loss and very disouraged. I've been trying to install this for =
3 days solid now and am banging my head. The readme files have been of =
no help and I'm doing all that the "Install.txt" is telling me to do! =
What gives and how an I fix it before I give up and keep giving Billy =
Gates more money - at least his software is easy to set up. =
HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

Discouraged in Ohio,
John Hawkins

PS. I have the complete installation set on my Dell 400 (d/l'd it from =
FreeBSD.org) but an't access it either across the LAN because it says =
that it can't find (or I don't have permission to use?) JH400? The IP =
address of this (the Dell is 192.168.0.2) and in the setup screen for =
NFS I set the machine that will hold the FreeBSD as 192.168.0.1. All =
have a subnet address of 255.255.255.0. The machines recognize each =
other (thats how I got the sets to the machine that is HOPEFULLY going =
to have FreeBSD on it) under windows3.11 or Win 95. The NICS ARE NOT =
the same manufacture but that shouldn't matter. The LAN is hubbed with =
2 other machines working fine on it - though they are using Billy's =
software.
