freebsd-questions@FreeBSD.org Greetings. I wonder if I could ask for some help with my new freebsd install. I assembled a new motherboard with a 3GB disk and a CD, installed using the Walnut Creek 4 CD set - FreeBSD3.4 January 2000. I think the simplest question is, can I re-run the Configuration utility? The man page for config indicates that it is the "old" version, but it does not refer me to the "new" version. Or, would you suggest re-installing the whole system? As an experienced Solaris administrator, I assume that a complete re-install isn't necessary as long as I have the core system up. I was trying to select "all" from the install process, but it seems as though I did not succeed, because X won't run. Unless I just am running it wrong. startx dies with "fatal server error: No valid modes found". When I start xdm, it seems to start in the background without error - beyond the screen blinking for a few moments.
