I've had the same problem on a HP Photosmart printer.  It appears that
the USB code that checks to see what kind of device is on the USB cannot
distinguish this printer as a printer (hence the ugen).  I have not been
able to get this to print.

Can you attach it using a parallel cable?  That's what I finally did as
I do not have the time right now to hack the USB code.
