Perhaps a link to this can be put into the handbook, ie:
http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO_8859-1/books/handbook/install.html
or thereabouts, saying something like:
"For more detailed instructions oriented towards users new to unix and/or
FreeBSD, see <a href blah blah blah>"
?
