Hi,

i have encountered a strange ping-problem. pinging the machine
sitec.sitec.de from outside the Firewall brings a
"wrong data byte"-message.
The machine sitec.sitec.de is running FreeBSD-2.1.0(R) and connected
via a Netsurf-router to a Firewall. There are several systems behind
the Firewall. I have no idea what kind of OS the Firewall is running.
When i try to ping the host sitec.sitec.de from outside the Firewall,
the ping packets get through, but ping tells that there is an error
in the packets. When pinging sitec.sitec.de from inside the Firewall,
everything is fine.

Has anyone else ever seen such a problem ?
Does anybody what is causing this problem and how to fix it ?

Here is what ping tells:

moos@cyclone:/home/moos > ping sitec.sitec.de
PING sitec.sitec.de (194.73.199.23): 56 data bytes

Thanks in advance for all your help.
