Richard,

I upgraded to Perl 5.8 on a production FreeBSD 4.5 server a few weeks
ago. I wrote up some notes on how that went here:

Notes on Upgrading to 5.8.0 on a production web server
http://www.perlmonks.org/index.pl?node_id=192255

In summary, no bugs found, but ensuring that the upgrade went smoothly
was a time-consuming process. :)
