4.3 supports NFSv3 and NFSv2; it will try v3 and if the remote system
does not support it, will fall back to v2.

Your choice.  I believe the default is UDP.  "man mount_nfs" for
details.

Nope.  I access FreeBSD, Solaris, Tru64, Netware, and Linux NFS servers
fine with FreeBSD clients.
