"Just as good as"? If Poul wasn't up burping his baby he'd be rolling in
his grave! pkhmalloc eats the GNU malloc for breakfast, because it
gets along with the VM system. Despite the comment in the
manpage, even :
HISTORY
The present implementation of malloc started out as a filesystem on a
drum attached to a 20bit binary challenged computer built with discrete
germanium transistors, and it has since graduated to handle primary stor-
age rather than secondary.
