On my ThinkPad R51 I put

acpi_video_load=3D"YES"

in /boot/loader.conf and

hw.acpi.reset_video=3D0
hw.syscons.sc_no_suspend_vtswitch=3D1=20

in /etc/sysctl.conf.

I don't know if it works on your system as well,
but you might want to try it.

Of course it only gets me S3, not S4.=20
