Wrong.  Slices were introduced into -current shortly after 2.0R, before 
2.0.5 or -stable existed.  Slices fixed coexistence problems with
msdos systems.  See the cvs history.

Wrong. See above.

Right :-).  He had to write a lot of code to fully exploit the features
