I found the link to install Linux Runtime Libraries
(http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/linuxemu-lbc-install.html)

but still I got stuck here when installing the
/usr/ports/emulators/linux_base. It appears that the patch for
freebsd did not work for gettext... now what do I do?

cell# make install

Stop in /usr/ports/devel/gettext.
