Thanks again. I'm not really a developper, and don't know quite how to
solve this.

Here's what's in /etc/make.conf:

PERL_VER=5.8.8
PERL_VERSION=5.8.8

How should I tell gcc to compile for either a PIII processor, or just
plain i386?
