Upon establishing the connection between two PCs with cross-over cable,
I can't seem to ping the other computer.

I have done:

ifconfig ed0 10.0.0.1 10.0.0.2 up
route add 10.0.0.2 10.0.0.1 1

and on the other:

ifconfig ed0 10.0.0.2 10.0.0.1 up
route add 10.0.0.0.1 10.0.0.2 1

Then when I ping 10.0.0.2 from 10.0.0.1, the system seiz:

ping: socket: Permission denied

What is wrong?
