I'm not sure this is what you want, but...

man hostname

The hostname is set in rc.conf.

If you change it, and don't use a DNS server to get IP-address
from hostname translation, you might have to change other com-
puters hosts file (FreeBSD) or lmhosts (Windows) to be able to
find the computer in the network.
