Are you certain you installed the latest driver after you built it?
The driver in 8-stable no longer displays "... rev:0 nports: ..." and
so I think you still have an old driver.  Please check the timestamp on
your /boot/kernel/*cxgb*ko files.

Send me the output of "pciconf -lv" from your system if it still doesn't
work.
