While I very like FreeBSD, and  Sybase ASE 11.9.2 (I have not tried ASA)
will work on FreeBSD in Linux emulation mode, also Sybase has ASE11.0.3
which is _free_ and they have optimized for FreeBSD Linux binary. 
But I don't recommend you use FreeBSD for Sybase database server. Look
at Solaris (AFAIK Solaris 8, both Intel and Sparc is free for use on
systems which have from 1 to 8 processors)

Also, AFAIK PowerBuilder is Windows only.
