So what do peoples do, then. not put FTP server behind firewall?
a lot of ftp clients use passive mode by default (most commonly ws_ftp) so
we spend a lot of time in support telling peoples to turn off passive mode.
we have hundreds of users that must use ftp and have been plagued with calls
regarding this.
