            Bug ID: 195683
Summary: [geli] geli boot passphrase prompt skips keys when
                    newcons enabled, usb keyboard
           Product: Base System
           Version: 10.1-RELEASE
          Hardware: amd64
                OS: Any
            Status: New
          Severity: Affects Only Me
          Priority: ---
         Component: kern
          Assignee: freebsd-bugs@FreeBSD.org
          Reporter: acheron.blackflow@gmail.com

With newcons (vt(4)) enabled, the on-boot geli passphrase prompt is skipping
keys, not every keystroke will register. The skipping is apparently random,
sometimes one or two keys, sometimes a lot, doesn't depend on the speed of
typing or length of keypress.

This happens regardless of hw.vga.textmode="1", and (as mentioned) with
kern.vty=vt present, both in /boot/loader.conf.

Temporary workaround is to enable kern.geom.eli.visible_passphrase to see what
you're typing. USB keyboard.
