Subject: Hardware question

Hi,

I am evaluating FREEBSD 4.5 RELEASE. I noticed that on the hardware
compatibility list for FREEBSD 4.5 that PERC 3/DC is not listed, but the
PERC 3/DCL is supported and listed. In talking to DELL they mentioned
that the only difference between the two cards is the physical size. =20

FREEBSD 4.5 installed with the PERC 3/DC card installed successfully
without any problems. I was wondering if the PERC 3/DC is suppported
since it uses the same driver as the PERC 3/DCL?

Thanks,

Don't know if you want to trust a Pitt graduate,=20
but...;)

In terms of "support" as it's used in the hardware=20
compatibility list, you may have answered your
own question. If I understand your note, you've
successfully installed 4.5-RELEASE on a machine
using the PERC 3/DC as a controller. Since "support"
as used in the hardware compatibility list essentially
means "works with" AIUI, it seems you've proved that
4.5-RELEASE does indeed support the PERC 3/DC.

If you are asking in terms of "technical support" -
well, this is your tech support right here, absent
a contract with a company specifically providing
tech support for the FreeBSD OS.
