The system is a Compaq ProLiant 2000 w/ dual P66, running a 2.2.6
system with a -current kernel.

The mptable output is:
---------------------------
bandersnatch# ./mptable -dmesg -grope -verbose

===============================================================================

MPTable, version 2.0.15

 MP FPS NOT found,
 suggest trying -grope option!!!

I figure this does not bode well for running SMP on this machine. Is
there anything else I can try?

Thanks
