Thanks to everyone who has provided help with this. However the final
soultion is still eluding me :-(

I beleive that the maximum resolutin that I can get from the interanl
LCD on this machine is 800x600. I have a nice confiiguration for
	external monitor with this card.

What I don;t have is an 800x600 modelin that does what i want. I do
have one that gets the internal display up, but I find myselef in a
virtual display that appears to be about 1024x768, and this is
_without_ declaring a virtual size in XF86Config.

The 1024x768 display config for the external monitor works, but of
course I can't see all of it, but it's not virtual either.

Since I am goiing to run a virtul window manage on this, I really can't
	use a virtual server screen.

How can I be geting a virtual screen withou calling for it?
